2. You've got to put a silencer on the Cuisinart |
|
Otherwise the sound makes them squirm too much.

I don't mean put my full weight on her, but I make her lie down on her stomach, and I straddle her from above. With my legs I can keep her from backing out from under me, and she's unable to flail around too much. She's terrified of the clippers and this is the only way I can do it by myself.

7. Think I'd check with a vet first... |
|

I know someone who has one kind of dog who can't have his toenails clipped-- otherwise, the dog would bleed.
On the other hand, with my cats, I only clip 1/2 the toenail (claw)... the Veterinarian said any more could make their toenails bleed.

If you want a real challenge, try a 7-pound kitten with an attitude.

11. If you click on the link you will see a poodle dancing |
|
because he is so eager to have his toenails clipped. I don't think you will get the emails unless you give them your email address.

Kidding, of course - but I can't imagine it's possible to keep a dog still long enough for you to actually clip the toenails. Good luck!

I hold them down while girlfriend clips. With little Ed he will sit in my lap and let me do it. Scooter gets hers done at the vet. I tried clipping her nails one time and she bit me then hid under the bed for six hours.

20. 2 words - dremel tool |
|
No joke - our greyhound rescue group uses them and every year at the annual picnic they demonstrate how to do it. We use one on all our dogs, except the Siberian Husky who trims his own nails. We are going to buy a cordless one soon so that we aren't tied to trimming where the outlets are. As much as I don't care for the Peticure ads, primarily because all they are selling is a cordless dremel tool, the technique they show is how you use it. Good luck.

It costs ten bucks, and I don't have to inflict pain on my baby. We keep waiting for those Peticures to come to Target, but they're slow moving. Duckie

Same thing, and you'll be able to use it for other things (and the cost is the same).
