Major parenting FAIL.
Scene:

7 year old daughter sits on the toilet for morning pee; in the bedroom, the parents hear the child call

"MOOOOOOOOMM!" (accusatory)

"What, sweetie"

"A-hem." (points to her arm)

"What is that?" (Mom is now in the bathroom to look at her little, sweet, baby 7 year old girl's arm; so innocent and gentle.)

"Mom, it's your nicotine patch!"

Stunned look on mom's face as the "wah wah WAHHHHHHHH" losing game show music plays in the background and large, stone hewn letters crash to the bottom of the screen:

FAIL.

...on the plus side, her teacher said she was very focused and relaxed today at school.

2. I put my son's shoes on him one morning when he was a baby, and
it was only several hours later when I took them off for his nap that I found out that I'd bent one of his toes back. I took him to the doctor right away and he was fine. I still don't know why he wasn't screaming!

4. When my daughter, baby #2, was an infant, I put her on the bed and went to the bathroom
thinking, "Oh, she's so little, she can't possibly move around much..."

A few minutes later *THUNK* (hardwood floors x( ) and "Waaaaaah!"

Luckily, she's a very intelligent child, so apparently suffered no permanent brain damage.

6. That happened with my son.
And I was standing right there in front of him, ready to put his clothes on. I never would've guess he was capable of rolling so far, so fast. He was just a totally, totally different kind of baby from my first son. He landed pretty flat, and on a carpeted floor, so he was more frightened than hurt by the ordeal, but I felt like a bad, bad, parent for a while.

8. It's a horrible feeling when you hear them hit the floor.
Luckily, they seem to be very resilient!

9. You do realize that children can die from nicotine overdose
There are warnings all over the place on patches.

13. yes. It was on my wife when we went to bed and on the girl when we awoke.
My wife puts a new one on in the morning, so it was pretty old and dead.

Yes, nicotine is deadly.

This is a FAIL.
