I swear this guy was in the hotel where I stayed. Security had to come to pull some guy back from the railing on the 11th floor of the atrium at the Embassy Suites who was screaming "We SUCK!"

Two years ago our boys played yours at Jordan-Hare.

Down 26-7 in the third we inserted our backup QB who had been promised a series by the coach. He completed five straight passes on a 90 yard TD drive, hitting four different receivers. Suddenly we were only down by twelve. But then he sat for the rest of the game (and the rest of that season and the next) while the staff went back to their golden boy and a 40-14 loss. :shrug:

Anyway, that coaching staff is now gone and that guy is now a senior and is finally getting his first career start tomorrow against Oklahoma State. And oh yeah, the golden boy got cut by the Texans yesterday.

These OTHER teams, these LESSER teams, sometimes they win and sometimes they lose. You can never predict the results.

Duke is a different story. You know they're going to lose, so you can take a bathroom break in the middle of a long drive confident in the knowledge Duke's quarterback won't throw the game-winning touchdown while you're gone.

The true proof of what a superior team Duke is comes in the last game of every season--the one against UNC. The winner of that game receives the Liberty Bell to take to all its games, and ring after every touchdown. Every year they play for this, every year the UNC head coach gives his team a motivational talk, and every year the talk is entitled, "the Liberty Bell is NOT the property of the UNC Athletic Department."
