Make my Day! My coolest birthday present from 45 years ago (from JFK!!!) rediscovered

When I was 11 years old (March 1963), my dad had Pierre Salinger, who was a friend,
neighbor, and JFK's press secretary, get JFK to hand-autograph a photo of himself
made out "To (my name), With best wishes, John Kennedy." I got it on my 11th birthday.

I had always left that photo in my parents' house in Virginia. When my dad died
in 2000, I wanted to bring that photo to the house in Germany, and suddenly couldn't
find it anywhere. I just got here to Dallas from Denver, and my housemates here had
a nice surprise for me. I must have sent it down here when moving stuff to this house
some 20 years ago, and forgotten that I had packed it. I saw it here quietly sitting
atop a pile of books in my room!

There is a hand-autographed photo of FDR made out to my paternal grandfather that
I inherited from my parents, and I had always wanted to put this photo next to it.
I thought this photo had been lost forever. Not any more. Talk about "make my day!"

3. My Dad has one from JFK

Dad sent a very young JFK $5.00 for his first Senate campaign. JFK sent back and autographed pic with the inscription, "To Dennis S. XXXXXX, my very best wishes and thanks, John F. Kennedy".
