Hey Lounge, I have a question for you |
|
As some of you may know, I'm moving into a new place this weekend. It used to be owned by a guy who didn't do much cleaning, and consequently parts of it have really grossed me out.
One part in particular is the microwave oven, which still hasn't been cleaned out inside. The bottom and sides look fine, but the top is disgusting: splatters, stains, and chunks of stuff hanging off the top of it.
I've always had a weird thing with old food (for example, I don't eat leftovers over a day old), and I just know that I will NEVER be able to eat anything that comes out of that microwave.
Since I already have microwave (it's not as nice a model as the one in the new place) and I am thinking about just throwing the old one out. Seriously, it is grossing me out so bad that I get nauseous just thinking about it.
Am I being overly weird about this?

1. Don't throw it out, clean it and donate it to someone |
|
Other than adding more crap to already overly full landfills you're not being weird at all

2. Easy way to clean microwave |

ovens. Just boil water in them. The scum/scuzz is easy to wipe out. Use gloves though, it was someone else's microwave. Then, if you don't want it, donate it.

6. Around here the garbage collectors won't even take a microwave |
|
if it's in working condition it would be frivolous to throw it out. Either clean it and donate it or, if you can't stand the thought of cleaning it, post it as a freebie on Craigslist with the caveat that it needs a good cleaning. Somebody out there will be happy to have it for the price of a good scrub.
This isn't intended as a judgment about you being "weird" or not. You're totally justified in feeling that way but just don't toss it in a landfill, k?

7. Go with malta blue's advice. |
|
If your place is anything like mine, the microwave will be gone within hours.
And no, you're not being overly weird about this.
