I am overwhelmed.
I've harvested a half-dozen zucchinis from my garden, each of them about the size of my forearm. So I decided to make zucchini bread. It turns out that each zucchini is enough to make four loaves of bread. This means that I will have to make 24 loaves. In the meantime, more zucchinis are growing out there.

I guess I'll have to go get more eggs...

1. Man I'm tempted to get on a plane
Just to come up there and get some yummy zucchini bread. I missed out on getting big from the baseball bat sized zucchini in my mothers garden....x(

2. I've made zucchini bread
every weekend for the past three weekends. First it was just regular zucchini bread with chopped pecans, then zucchini bread with sunflower seeds and chocolate chips, then this past week it was zucchini bread with sunflower seeds and cranberries. We eat it for breakfast with homemade goat cheese. :9

We also have had zucchini and summer squash stirfry and deep fried zucchini coins with horseradish sauce. :9

Hope you find plenty of yummy uses for yours, too. You could always make the breads and freeze them for Christmas presents!

6. Let one go on the plant.
A truly monstrous zucchini will slow down production on the whole plant. It's still a zucchini, however -- there'll be plenty more. :-)

7. I have six plants -- my first mistake.
How big do the damn things get? I found one that was almost the size of a baseball bat.

8. The big one from my mom's garden
Was the length of my arm from shoulder to wrist. Now I don't have long arms but still...

9. OMG! Six plants! That's crazy talk.
Pull out half of them. A six pack of zucchini plants is enough to feed a village.
Baseball bat size is good -- just leave it attached.
:D

10. six plants? hahahahahahhaa
you will never do that again

bread doesn't use them fast enough - stuff them instead - especially the big course ones. Then you can eat as much of the flesh as you want but don't have to feel guilty throwing large amounts of the carcass out after cooking something actually edible in it.

one year when we were stupid and planted 2 plants we were chopping them up and sauteeing them for the dogs.

I kind of miss them though. We got a squash bug infestation last year so I'm holdong off for a few years on the cucurbits hopefully they will die out in the yard, although we have native gourds nearby and will probably always have a source of reinfestation.

11. There used to be a national "Leave zucchini on your neighbor'
doorstep day" in the US a few years ago. Somewhere around the end of August.
You'd put the Z in some container, put them on your neighbor's doorstep and leave. No need to stay for the thanks.

13. Oh, that sounds good.
And I do happen to have some very good olive oil. Maybe I'll try that. You can also dust them with flour and fry them in butter (like I need THAT). I think I'll be living on the damn things. And the four hundred tomatoes that are occupying my refrigerator.
