Sometimes the animal folks know how to work it, and McLachlan has been very generous in allowing the ASPCA and other animal welfare groups use her music.

Oh, and if you don't want to donate to the ASPCA for some reason, your local shelter or humane society can always use the help. Volunteering is very cool, too.

3. That commerical was on heavy rotation for a while

It's a bit hard for us to watch, because a lot of our critters were rescues. Our beautiful Bonnie (who had to be put down last year) was rescued by ginbarn after shivering in the cold rain and being chased by other cats, not to metion being abandoned by her previous owner, who apparently delivered a sharp blow to her head not long before. That was 14 years ago, and we've treasured every moment we spent with Bonnie. She was our little angel.

Every animal I've ever owned has been a rescue of one sort or another. Dogs from the pound, cats from the street, etc. Our Bella (even though she's a "pure" schnauzer) was rescued from a family who neglected her, and was going to take her to the pound because they didn't know how to properly care for a dog.

then she plays it over and over, singing along with Sara and going "Awwww" for every animal they show. Now if that doesn't make you use a box of tissues, nothing will!
