So I found out why my Prof blocked my funding...How fucked up is this?

So I met with my adviser this morning to discuss my thesis and my funding, etc, and she told me the actual reason why my Prof blocked the Dept. funding for my conference registration fee and poster printing fee...The Professor, who is female said this:

"Well, she's married. Why can't her man pay for it?"

But, my adviser is doing that for me, pretty much. She doesn't feel that one's personal life should factor into the funding decisions. And, if it is going to be a factor, the person's entire situation should be taken into account.

And it's supposed to be at the discretion of the Chair, but she's the new Chair, so she let the faculty decide. The other Prof basically pulled rank on her, b/c she's been here longer.

So now they have me on a funding chase throughout my University, and the fee is due two weeks from today. And, it's less than $200. It's not like it's a huge amt. of $, and the Dept. isn't hurting for cash right now.
