Poll question: What's the best song by Tool? |
|
Edited on Fri Aug-08-03 10:14 PM by leftist_rebel1569
I personally would have to go with "Sober", although I do like the other songs on the list quite a bit...

Toolfan, right? before the software switch?
I'm not a big fan of Tool, and the 6 up there were on my playlist at the time. But, I added a few from your list up there...

Thanks for the additions! If you ever get the chance to see Tool live, go! They are probably the best live band playing these days, and I'm not just saying that 'cause they're my favorite :P

I assume you've heard of A Perfect Circle then?

APC is on tour right now and they have an album out next month. Have you heard the first single? I like it a lot.

I just might have to buy their album when it comes out...
Oh, and if I can get some of my friends to go (odds are they'll be a bit skeptical of a band they prolly haven't heard before), I would go. Tickets are still on sale, 30 bucks...

I can pretty much guarantee you will not be disappointed. Maynard & co. always put on good show for the fans.
You should pick up their first album sometime, Mer de Noms, which is excellent as well.
Bring your friends! Share the wealth of good music, which is so hard to come by these days!

10. okay, i'll look for it |
|
next time i'm at the store...
I'm going over to my friend's house tomorrow, so I guess I could try to talk them into it. It fits my music tastes well, but more of my friends are either 1) broke off their asses and can't go without begging their parents, or 2) not into the type of music they do...:(. Oh well, I think I can find someone to go with me...

nothing beats a cookie recipe being read in german.
what i love about the Lateralus album is that it's like the first band i ever got into, Floyd, the whole album just flows.

tight show. i hate that they take so long in between projects though. but i guess it's better than having crap churned out every 8 or 9 months.

12. The lyrics have haunted me from the day I first heard Sober |
|
Why can't we not be sober? I just want to start this over. Why can't we drink forever. I just want to start things over.

It's weird, the first time I heard the song...the lyrics just clicked with me. I wasn't having a good day, though...
There's a shadow just behind me shrouding every step I take making every promise empty pointing every finger at me. Waiting like a stalking butler who upon the finger rests. Murder now the path called "must we" just because the son has come. Jesus won't you fucking whistle something but the past and done? Jesus won't you fucking whistle something but the past and done? Why can't we not be sober? I just want to start this over. Why can't we drink forever. I just want to start things over.
I am just a worthless liar. I am just an imbecile. I will only complicate you. Trust in me and fall as well. I will find a center in you. I will chew it up and leave, I will work to elevate you just enough to bring you down.
Mother Mary won't you whisper something but what's past and done. Mother Mary won't you whisper something but what's past and done. Why can't we not be sober? I just want to start this over. Why can't we drink forever. I just want to start things over.
I am just a worthless liar. I am just an imbecile. I will only complicate you. Trust in me and fall as well. I will find a center in you. I will chew it up and leave,
Trust me. Trust me. Trust me. Trudt me.
Why can't we not be sober? I just want to start this over. Why can't we drink forever. I just want to start things over.
I want what I want.

18. My Favorite is "46 and 2" |
|
Edited on Sat Aug-09-03 02:36 AM by proud patriot
My shadow's Shedding skin and I've been picking Scabs again. I'm down Digging through My old muscles Looking for a clue.
I've been crawling on my belly Clearing out what could've been. I've been wallowing in my own confused And insecure delusions For a piece to cross me over Or a word to guide me in. I wanna feel the changes coming down. I wanna know what I've been hiding in
My shadow. Change is coming through my shadow. My shadow's shedding skin I've been picking My scabs again.
I've been crawling on my belly Clearing out what could've been. I've been wallowing in my own chaotic And insecure delusions.
I wanna feel the change consume me, Feel the outside turning in. I wanna feel the metamorphosis and Cleansing I've endured within
My shadow Change is coming. Now is my time. Listen to my muscle memory. Contemplate what I've been clinging to. Forty-six and two ahead of me.
I choose to live and to Grow, take and give and to Move, learn and love and to Cry, kill and die and to Be paranoid and to Lie, hate and fear and to Do what it takes to move through.
I choose to live and to Lie, kill and give and to Die, learn and love and to Do what it takes to step through.
See my shadow changing, Stretching up and over me. Soften this old armor. Hoping I can clear the way By stepping through my shadow, Coming out the other side. Step into the shadow. Forty six and two are just ahead of me.

Love 46 & 2. That line "Listen to my muscle memory. Contemplate what I've been clinging to." has just stuck with me since the very first time I heard it.
I'm also a big fan of Stinkfist. Gotta love songs about fisting. ;)
And H always makes me think of the guy I'm doing right now.
I have to say that the first half of Aenima is some of the best music ever written to fuck to. Right up there with NIN's Downward Spiral in my book.
I think the reason I like Tool so much is because they're so complicated rhytmically. Not a lot of that straight ahead, 4/4, 3 chord rock for them. Their drummer is a god.

22. As far as the "hiatus" goes... |
|
Word around the campfire is they're going to be releasing a live dvd to keep us rabid fans from forgetting about them... good thing, too, since they've been to Seattle about 10 times and I've only been able to buy tickets once.. bastards sell out in 20 minutes every time they come to town.

I've never seen them live, myself...but, I haven't ever tried to get tickets, but I haven't been a fan of Tool for that long and I think they sold out last time they came here. Not sure, though...
