not to be a spelling nazi, but it will be important to them.

4. Right now they have a big hole in their jewelry department. |
|
However, they have many other sales department openings. I hope to move up to some sort of management position.

5. do you get commission? |

My honest opinion is that retail is for masochists, the pay is poor, and most store managers are treated poorly by those above them, having watched people make that move. I've seen very talented people just walk away from their jobs.
I worked for two other retail chains while I was going to school, both successful department store chains.
You can get better pay and better working conditions in almost any other industry. It is not one to stake a career in, if it can be avoided. Benefits are not as good, or non-existent, compared to many other things.
and the hours you need to work include nights and weekends, and much of the Christmas season, before and after Christmas, the biggest retailing event of the year. It is very hard on one's personal and family life.
The only good thing is the employee discount.

6. I worked for them for 5 years in the salon, as a stylist. |

The benefits (at the time, 10 years ago) were decent. They are not nazis about the periods. I'm hoping the guy above is kidding because there are no periods. If you sell (in retail) a certain amount over your wage, you are given the status of "superstar" and you are given an extra 5% discount over the 15% all associates get. Benefits used to include health, 401K (Penneys stock), and paid vacation/sick time. They were decent to work for, I just hated the salon manager. Good luck.
