Forget anything this week?
Edited on Wed Sep-10-08 10:50 AM by LaraMN
I showed up for a Dr's appointment at 3:30, only to find I was supposed to be there at 2:30. Then, I had back-to-back appointments for two of my kids. I thought about it the night before, thought about it the morning of, and then COMPLETELY spaced it out and forgot to take them. I forgot to grab my cosmetic bag before leaving for my 11-hour day of school, had a spaz, then realized that I'd initially forgotten that it was in my bag already, anyway. I forgot that NoelMN has a field trip today. The BUS forgot to pick up JackMN for his first day of Kindergarten (well, technically the driver forgot). I forgot where I was driving last night and ended up at the local casino instead of NoelMN's soccer game. I forgot where on my computer I saved my resume and had to write an entirely new one (naturally, I could not remember the dates I worked anywhere or did anything). I forgot to NOT sit next to the Stupid Loud Fast-Talker Girl again in my P.R. class, and was stuck with her as my activity partner for three hours. Her breath smelled like hot dogs and unsuccessful breath mints.

Please share what you forgot so I don't feel like a lone idiot.

1. So, did you win anything at the casino?

I, also, am having the week from Hell. Shit, it's only Wednesday.

2. I should have checked in to their hotel
and hid out.
I'm not a big fan of gambling. On the rare occasion I've gone to the casino, I've pretty much set my limit at two rolls of nickels. I don't handle loss well.

:P

What's troubling you this week?

:(

4. Just a massive overload of work.
I'm on hold on a conference call right now, waiting for the organizer to join, (she's only 15 minutes late, gah)

I love this job. Love, love, love helping charities like this, but I swear, sometimes I am not suited to deal with stupid.

I haven't gotten dressed in two days. I stayed up all night on Sunday trying to get a report to a client that would hopefully satisfy them.

Other than that, things are going swimmingly. How does Jack like K? How about the other two? School year start off okay?

6. Aw, honey!
:* :* :*

"I haven't gotten dressed in two days"

When NoelMN was a newborn, I believe I once went about a week without a shower.

Jack seems to like Kindergarten. The first day his bus didn't show up, he wouldn't eat his lunch because it was in *GASP!* a paper bag, and he missed the toilet and peed on his pants. None of this, fortunately, is the type of thing that phases him at all.

The other two are not complaining dramatically yet. NoelMN doesn't hate his teacher this year, so that's a bonus.

:D

5. I could just about offer the reverse sentiment of your subject line.
I'm going to be playing catch-up in the "career" department when I graduate.

The grass is always greener, eh?

7. That I can't laze around in bed and make lame excuses for being late on the first day of class.
That the train is always reliably late whenever you are.
That I have twenty minutes in which to do nothing between class and work and they're right across the street from each other.

I went and bought Gummi Bears.

8. I approve of the gummies.
I bought some Jelly Bellies while trying to burn time during my (ridiculous) 2+ hour lunch break between classes.
They were a nice pick-me-up to have later in the day, when I had to sit through classes from 2-7:30, as I forgot to leave myself time for a dinner break when I did my schedule for this semester.

9. Bit esoteric, but I forgot a biggie today.
I spent all day knocking up an Ajax demonstration for a meeting on Friday. I decided that I would implement my server-side routines in Oracle PSP pages for convenient access to the database, while the web layer would be written in JSP and servlets. I spent about six hours today building various things until I finally remembered that JavaScript code was forbidden to make XMLHttpRequest calls to any host except the originating server, which meant my idea couldn't possibly work and I basically wasted six hours.

I couldn't be bothered to rewrite anything at 4pm so I spent the last hour looking at disused London Underground stations on the web instead.

10. Billy!
I have absolutely no relevant interpretation of your aforemention computer-speak scenario, but I definitely get the "my idea couldn't possibly work and I basically wasted six hours" part.

"Knocking up an Ajax demonstration" sounds interesting.

:P

11. That was the main point, and you got it
I should have known that at the start. I did know this. I was just being dumb. :dunce:
