Honestly, why do strangers add you on facebook?

WIth no message or anything? I don't fucking get it. On occasion, because of my profession I have people send me a message asking me for more info on something I reported on, or journalism students, or just people saying "Hey, I liked that piece" (Luckily the ones who hated something have been nice enough o stay silent) and that's fine. But, I just got one from some dude in France I don't know and have no idea who the fuck he is or why he wants to be friends. I don't fucking get it. Is it some piece of pop culture I'm missing?

I was going to reply to HEyHEY that I do the same thing that he's mentioned. I found a gay author I like and asked to be his friend on Facebook. And, to my surprise, he accepted my request. We've had some nice discussions.

Plus...you should be aware that quite a few DU'ers are on Facebook.

I've had some great experiences with Facebook...including running into friends I haven't kept in touch with in years. It was nice to see them again. :-)
