Mrs R is engaged in her twice-weekly fall jihad against the leaves, bits of branches, and acorns in the front driveways (we have three), not to mention the street in front of the house, and I'm about ready to take a bite out of the arm of my chair because that FUCKING HIGH-PITCHED WHINING NOISE is really getting on my nerves.

I told her, nay, I BEGGED her, that I'd be willing to sweep / rake the stuff into the swamp across the street, if she'd JUST spare me having to listen to that GODDAMN blower.

But no. She won't let me do it, and used the trump card of the fact that I'm not supposed to exert myself because of the blood clot, and that I might have a piddling little heart attack or stroke if I exercise too much, like I wouldn't be willing to trade that for not having to suffer through this racket for half an hour.

Dammit. My riposte fell on deaf ears, it did.

Christ, that noise is even more annoying than a chainsaw. I think I'll go down to the basement for a while.

Rakes don't kick leaves up in the air in order for them to be blown back into the area you just hit. Unless you're driving one of those riding blowers which do admittedly make short work of any leaf problem, you're only blowing shit around to feel better about yourself.

Still, sniper rifle for the idiots who insist on cleaning their driveways! Especially those types who use a hose and water to clean their driveways, for them I'd shoot to wound.

When I lived in Portland, I was in an area that had a lot of apartment buildings, and every groundskeeper used leaf blowers in the fall. Since I work at home, it was torture. I could have my windows closed, my music on, and the (*&^% leaf blowers would still be so loud that they'd fill my entire sensory universe. :grr:

24. I live in a converted warehouse building of 33 units.

Most of us share a common enclosed hallway. The building maintenance person who cleans the hall uses a leaf blower INDOORS to dust off our hallways floors once a week. x( So not only do we get that noise amplified in a large echo-ey hallway...we get the carbon monoxide fumes leaking under our doorway as genius boy happily blows his way up and down the building. I hates him.
