2. 83 years old. Hard to believe. He was always so vital. Didn't even seem to age until his hair turned
grey.

He was not only a wonderful actor, but a wonderful human being and he will be missed.

3. There are none better
as an actor, as a humanitarian or as a man.

'He sometimes teamed with his wife and fellow Oscar winner, Joanne Woodward, with whom he had one of Hollywood's rare long-term marriages. "I have steak at home, why go out for hamburger?" Newman told Playboy magazine when asked if he was tempted to stray.'

Godspeed Paul...

4. I saw the news five minutes ago.
I just stopped crying. I can't believe it. He's been a hero to me for years. What a grand old man he was. He showed people that liberalism is not wimpy, but kind, caring, thoughtful, and transformative.

God bless, Paul.

And condolences to Joanne.

5. I loved Paul Newman
He was an avid NPR listener. Once, swapping pledge drive stories at a conference, a colleague from North Country Public Radio in upstate New York mentioned that they got a pledge for $25,000; when the volunteer asked the name, somewhat sarcastically thinking it was a prank, the caller answered "Paul Newman." They still didn't believe it, even though they knew he was making a film in the area; they had to go through layer after layer of people before realizing it really WAS him. He'd been there for six months and listened every day so he thought he should make a pledge.

His regular station was WSHU in Fairfield, CT; he gave them $50,000 annually.

I'll miss him.

14. He did good, for a "nice Jewish kid from Shaker Heights"
I loved that when he said it.

Met him once, and talked to him a bit at Mid-Ohio when he was racing there. Self-effacing, nice guy that loved racing.

Godspeed, Paul.

15. We obviously knew it was coming, and his death is not a surprise, but it still hurts.
It hurts a lot.

Peace to his family and loved ones. You were one of the best, Mr. Newman. One of the best.
