I'm finishing off a truly awful Carlo Rossi Rhine wine. Then I'll move on to a fine Chianti.

The Rossi rhine's only positive feature is that it gets you buzzed...

What's everybody drinking?

Another glass or two and I won't notice, though. :)

8. Why then, I'll take off my socks.
I'm okay. Not great. I'm drowning my sorrows and am still at the "meh, it's for the best" stage. I'm hoping to fall asleep before I recognize that I'm truly screwed :)

You?

9. My wife left for California today to help my stepdaughter out with her new baby, grandchild # 7.
I cried like a baby myself when I dropped her off at the airport. Then again when I got home and received the news that Paul Newman was dead. I don't know if I can go a whole week without Mrs. Aristus. :(

You and the Mrs. are lucky, so lucky. Bittersweet is better than just bitter, and she'll be back with wondrous tales of the wee one!

20. If she had known, she would have said so. Mrs. Aristus thinks drinking alcohol is like
serving pork to break the fast at Ramadan. She does NOT approve. So the wine serves a dual purpose: drowning my sorrows, and rebelling (just a bit...) :hide:

7. Is there any kind of Carlo Rossi wine other than "truly awful"?
I've had a couple of Sam Adams Cherry Wheats, myself.

Just finished a good cup of coffee...might have another beer later.

because it really fills me up.

It's pretty early, though, so maybe I'll sip on some Courvoisier later.

23. Hmm, it IS a brandy evening, isn't it. (Cognac too).
I've got a bottle of V.S.O.P. down in the kitchen. I'm going to warm it up later in a brandy warmer given to me by the very step-daugher my wife is currently visiting. That seems appropriate.

Only a glass and 1/2 thus far.

I recently discovered (again) that one bottle of wine = BNL needing someone to hold her hair.

29. Life is too short to drink cheap wine
While in grad school, my husband and I occasionally raided the coin jar in order to buy a good bottle of wine. It's one of life's great blessings. Cheers.

31. Well, the Carlo Rossi was left over from when I made my wife dinner a few weeks ago.
I just needed a cheap wine to simmer the chicken in. There was so much left over, though, that I didn't want it to go to waste.

BTW, the Rossi is gone; I'm drinking a much more civilized Bello chianti now. B-)

33. OMG I love chicken simmered in white wine
and mushrooms. Even my husband, who is not a fan of chicken, loves it. Yum!!!

I'd give a king's ransom for a glass of chardonnay right now. We're having Bombay gin and tonics, but wine is my drink of choice.
