1. I found out the very hard way...no, not really.
After my 1000th hug of "that" day, I realized I am not much of a hugger unless it's my children or my husband.

2. That's totally understandable.
I wouldn't even want to speak to anyone, let alone be hugged by them all day.

How are you doing?

6. Nonononono no touching. I can be a bit like Lars from 'Lars and the Real Doll'.
It is all about the setting and person. At work, I don't even like to see OTHER people touch. I don't like my wife trying to kiss or touch me at work, but other public places are ok.

and others dislike it.

13. Well, I have partially diagnosed myself as a person who doesn't distinguish (very well)
between affection and sexuality. Kids are no problem, but, you know, other peoples female partners or whatever...Best left untouched. I am back in Uni at age 33 and, frankly, get flirted with a lot so I am a bit on the defensive.

I also think human/animal affection is creepy and gross and I think animal/animal affection is tolerable, but not "awwwwww". Again, children excepted on account of the genuine nature of their affection.

15. I gotta disagree with you on the human/animal affection.
I have difficulty with human/human affection except with those I am closest to, but find it very easy to express affection towards animals. I guess because I know that with animals it is genuine.

18. Yeah, I have no justification for that bias. I grew up with dogs and loved them very much.
Now I can't even fathom having a dog.

Total, unjustifiable prejudice.

8. I'm a touchy type, but only the most
light stuff in public and with friends, a pat on the hand, a hand on the shoulder, that sort of thing.

But hugs and other more demonstrative forms of more platonic contact I prefer to have from my family and close friends.

So yes I like touching, but only in the lightest of ways, if that makes sense. It depends on my degree of friendship with the person how much I like them touching me.

10. Yeah, that makes sense.
I don't mind close friends touching me, but I'm hyper aware of even that. I don't think anyone can touch me without me being aware of it.

21. I don't even like people in my "personal space".
Now, if it's someone I'm very familiar with then I don't care. Even if I only "knew" them online (like a DU meetup) I wouldn't mind. But strangers, you know the general public, stay outta my space and please don't touch me.

27. In general, yes...
I'm a pretty physically affectionate person. As long as I know you, I won't (usually) mind... and I definitely am the type to hug someone good-bye who I just met, if they're the type to be comfortable with that. I like snuggling. I like sitting close to my friends. So... yeah. :)

30. on the whole, yes
i don't enjoy total strangers coming up to me on the street and hugging me, but i am fine hugging or touching people i don't know in certain situations where we're all there for a common purpose. as for my friends and family, i am a very touch-based person. we all hug goodbye, most of us give kisses on the cheek. we hold hands, link arms, wipe stuff off each others' faces, brush hair back, etc, etc.

but, if i don't know a person all that well, i am always respectful of their space until i get to know them better.

Especially by someone I'm in love with. I adore that sort of affection.

I just get creeped out by touchy-feely strangers.

34. Depends on who's touching me and where.
If it's a total stranger, then I want them to take their hands off me and get the hell away.

If it's the cute blond girl I work with, then she can touch me all she wants. :P :)

35. Yes, but only by people I want to be touched by.
I don't mind hugging. I am very good for it too, so I'm told.

I don't like holding hands much, unless it's someone I love very much.

I actually feel awkward when a girlfriend grabs my hand. I always felt like that was reserved for parent and child, or for lovers. Maybe that's just me. :P
