2. I can.
My mother's boss has the same one. He writes his score on the ball with a sharpie and displays them. Over time, higher scores are removed to make room for lower scores.

He golfs on Mondays because the course is almost empty. The perks of being a corporate president.

4. In grandma's case...it was elephants.
She took being a Republican elector a little too seriously. We had so many elephants when we cleaned out the house that whenever somebody showed up and asked for something...we made them take an elephant.

8. Golf courses sell balls with the course logo printed on them
If you liked to go to all different places on vacation and play golf while there, you might collect balls as souvenirs.

Or, like the DUer upthread pointed out, you might write your score on balls when you have good games, and keep the balls as souvenirs.

Besides, we're talking about golfers. They do things only other golfers would understand, and this is one of them.
