Hank Williams jr re-wrote one of his songs for McCain-Palin
http://www.salon.com/politics/war_room/2008/10/13/williams/index.html?source=rss&aim=/politics/war_room
The left wing liberal media have
Always been a real close knit family
But, most of the American People
Don’t believe em anyway ya see
Stop and think it over
Before you make your decision
If they smell something
They’re gonna come down strong
It’s a McCain–Palin tradition

Now this old Union’s got problems
That is plain to see
The Democrats bankrupted Fannie Mae N Freddie Mac
Just like 1, 2, 3
The bankers didn’t want to make all those bad loans,
But Bill Clinton said you got to
Now they want a bail out, what I’m talking about
Is a Democrat liberal who doo

CHORUS
John N Sarah tell ya
Just what they think
And they’re not gonna blink
And they’re gonna fix this country
Cause they’re just like you N ole Hank Yes John is a maverick
And Sarah fixed Alaska’s broken condition
They’re gonna go just fine
We’re headed for better times
It’s a McCain–Palin tradition

I am very proud of America’s name
But no society is perfect
And we have had our stains
If I’m down at the coffee shop and
Somebody wants to give our flag friction
We say please move on
Cause we’re standing strong
That’s an old John McCain tradition

CHORUS

Some are bound to tell you I’m
Preaching to the choir
And that is very true
And we are going even higher
Like a mama bear in Idaho
She’ll protect your family’s condition
If you mess with her cubs
She’s gonna take of the gloves
It’s an American female tradition

:eyes:
Normally this upsets me but this is what your stereotypical babyboomer is and does. He rides easy off of the hard work, creations and sacrifices of his father and talks down to or lies about those who try to help those his daddy helped and sung about. But because he's country music royalty and a one hit wonder who figured out he could make $$$ in the 80's by entertaining racist baby boomers and their other base desires. But because he doesn't have the originality or the creativity to make up a new song to bash people like me, and his son, he has to re-do one of his.

For those baby boomers that are mad at me for taking their overly sanctified asses behind the wood shed and giving it a good 'ol spanking for what the majority of them did, I'm sorry but in a land where the masses had the say in what happens I hold them to some extent reposible for what happens. That includes (in case you forgot) the Reagan revolution, the moral majority, the modern religious fundamentalist movement, neo-cons, neo-libs, the Gingrich revolution, Scalia and other right wing jurist, and the forced Clinton trianulation with the right which led to a lot of economic destruction in this country.

1. I was hoping this was a joke...
Not that I'm a big Hank Jr. fan, but when I read those "lyrics" they are so forced and awful, I knew they had to be real.

and all the ME-FIRST un-nuanced assholery of the worst of the Boomers.

Are you ready to go bankrupt?
A Wall Street party!
We've got Ben and Henry, too,
They've got the next crash started!

Looks like the market's goin' down without a fight,
All my yuppie friends go broke on Monday night!

11. That the talent skipped a generation?
Then again, most of us get to watch our parents degenerate into self-parody, just not on television.

21. Yep, and he hates his son for it.
But he adopted a transiant one to make up for the loss of his other son, which is so very southern. They shunned Clinton, Carter and Gore because they were smarter than them and they wanted to evolve the country into the future. They embraced shunned transients, shunned because their ideas were found to be wanting, because wanted to be primative and stuck in the past; thats why the south went for Bush 1&2 and Ronny Reagan.

28. Wonder what Daddy would think?
Hank Williams was a drunk not known for political writings, but his songs were from the heart, about a lonely man searching for comfort or struggling to overcome his pain. He sung about tears, loneliness, heartbreak, cheating and betrayal, the angst of living, all in a way that broke your heart while showing that, simply by exposing these emotions of hopelessness, one should always hope for a better life. On his more positive side, he wrote and sung spiritual songs like "I saw the light." His writings and his singing were timeless explorations of the human spirit in all its sufferings and hopes.

Junior sings about getting drunk with his friends and having women he's never had.

I wouldn't say Junior is talentless. He sings a fun barroom song that's usually great to shout along with. But he doesn't have the depth of his father. Not even close.

W got (s)elected twice when YOU were an adult. DOes that make you responsible for that? According to your "logic," it does.

the moral majority,

I wasn't one of them

the modern religious fundamentalist movement,

I'm not and have never been a fundie.

neo-cons,

I'm not and have never been one. And all those other things you mentioned, I refuse to accept guilt or blame for.

You're very much into blaming, I notice. You must be from a very dysfunctional family--they're very much into blaming.
Perhaps Al Anon or Adult Children of Alcoholics would be of some benefit to you.

"For those baby boomers that are mad at me for taking their overly sanctified asses behind the wood shed and giving it a good 'ol spanking for what the majority of them did, I'm sorry but in a land where the masses had the say in what happens I hold them to some extent reposible for what happens."

Go Cheney yourself.

edited last paragraph.

It helps to have a group to blame, doesn't it?

Do you think that you bear some responsibility for the invasion of Iraq? After all, you're an American.

Wingers Hank Williams Jr. and especially Al Michaels on display. I'm sure Olbermann will say something on the pregame show and Michaels will be seething.

If we want to make something of this, bombard NBC with emails and letters. Hank Williams Jr. is the focus of the musical intro every week.
