SPAM has to be the worst tasting food ever
Edited on Mon Oct-13-08 10:39 PM by McPainsBrain
I bought a can of it today because I'd never tried it before. Yuck. That crap is disgusting. So salty and it doesn't even taste like meat. How can anyone eat it? Does it have to be cooked? Am I missing something? :(

1. well, when we were kids
my dad would sometimes cut it up and fry it and we'd have spam sandwiches, or cut it up, fry it and put it with vegetables in an omelet.
we liked it since it was a rare 'treat' to have any kind of junk food.

haven't had it since being vegetarian for 15 years, but even if I still ate meat, it'd still be too nasty for my taste.

3. Sliced up relatively thin and fried, then
put on a sandwich with a scrambled egg, a little lawry's seasoned salt and mayo(I prefer Miracle whip) and yummo! :9

They do make a lower sodium spam.

That's the only way I eat it.

along with mincemeat pie. But spam is right up there.

7. I don't like it raw, but fried to the point where it's getting a bit brown and crispy, it's really
not bad. Good with a bit of ketchup (I also like a little ketchup on my home fries or fried ham at breakfast). Or fry it up, put between two slices of toast with a bit of ketchup -- fried spam sandwich! Now I'm wanting one.

But cold raw Spam --- YUCK!

12. SPAM ain't that bad...
I have a Culinary degree. You do practically anything with it. Casseroles, sandwiches, soups. It's versatile!
(But, for pete's sake...use the LOW-SODIUM version.)

21. I like Spam
Sliced up on white bread with mustard and Texas Pete hot sauce. Eat a couple or three of those at the end of an all night beer guzzling party, and a person will have one heck of a head splitting, cotton mouth hangover for the whole next day.

Trust me, I speak from experience.

22. Slice it, fry it with eggs. MMM! Fry it and make sandwichesMMM!!!
The common word is FRY.

FWIW, there is an imitation Spam, made by Armor, called Treet.
Don't ever buy that stuff - it is like synthetic Spam, if you can imagine such.
My dog doesn't even like it.
