I realized something today

My son just turned 5. When we move next year, he will have spent a third of his pre-adult (under 18, that is) life in our too small, cramped apartment.

I never imagined we'd be stuck here for so long. The housing market can't fall fast enough. Unfortunately, getting a mortgage next year is going to be very hard without a large down payment the way I'm reading the tea leaves. I suspect we will try to get a bigger rental in the late winter and try to get tenant-at-will terms.

grrr.

On the bright side, seeing as I mostly work in the DoD economy which is largely divorced from reality, my job is secure and I just got a 7.5% raise.
