My sophomore son is taking the PSAT next week. Any tips from our resident SAT Master?

4. i never took the PSAT, only the SAT since i homeschool |

however my tips would be pretty basic.
first of all tell him not to get more sleep than he is used to the night before the test. the first time i took the test i went to bed early the night before to try to get some extra sleep, and instead i laid in bed for awhile freaking myself out about the test. that next morning i was tired and a nervous wreck. this time when i took it i woke up feeling good and confident since i didn't go to sleep too early that night before and didn't freak myself out the night before.
also, while he might want to review some of his practice test material the day before the tests, he doesn't want to spend too much time with that.. especially before going to bed. tell him to chill out and take it easy that day.
something i think helped me a lot this time taking, and i know this might sound silly, was doing sudoku the morning of the test. we have to wait about an hour after arriving before the test begins(they told us to arrive 30 minutes early, and it was 30 minutes after the scheduled start time that we actually began the testing). the first time i took the test i just sat in my car and freaked myself out over the test... this time i took my sudoku book with me and played some games while waiting. not only did it keep me distracted, but i think it got my brain warmed up. ;)
that's about all the suggestions i have. the biggest thing i can stress is for him not to freak out before the test. i did that the first time i took it, and while my scores were good, there certainly weren't what i was hoping and aiming for and i knew i could do better.

You're way smarter than I ever was and I scored in the 99th percentile.
