Let's see who has a NJ connection in their lives.

Question inspired by a NJ transplant's reply to the Olive Garden thread.

1. Have had it, at Mom and Repuke Stepdad's place "down the shore"
in Long Branch (direct oceanfront!)

Funny, I didn't know egg and cheese were specifically NJ things. :P

2. When part of the holy trinity of cholesterol that is a Taylor Ham
Egg & Cheese on a Hard roll, the egg and cheese assume the role of the "healthy" condiments.

6. Oh that's food porn right there. I've got two months until the next
trip to NJ to visit family. That photo will be my first breakfast when we get there.

You are so right on the egg sopability factor.

and my aunt used to bring it down from NJ to GA when we moved. Now the stuff is WAY too salty for my tastes.

11. I think we can lay fair claim.
You NY'ers have so much already, better city, higher wages, no stinky swamp or a skyline of refineries, you even get to claim the Giants even though we pay their rent...please allow us credit for the king of all pork products...I'll even throw in the Jets.

12. Not after you got the Statue of Liberty...
Some guy in Trenton may have invented it as a slightly tastier way to get rid of pig lips and testicles than scrapple, but we ate the stuff like the pigs it was made from.

13. Old Lady Liberty? I heard she's unemployed...
one of the first rounds of layoffs since Bush seized office. I hear she's just hangin' around the waterfront sellin' souvenirs and hoping her social security doesn't vaporize before Obama takes over cleans the place up and gives her her old job back.

I've seen scrapple close up and yes, even tasted it during a visit to in-laws in Jim Thorpe, PA. To type that word in the same sentence as Taylor Ham is pure blasphemy.
