Amazon's service is getting shitty! Who gives you good service? |
|
They're getting worse by the day. The last two orders I've placed have had problems and customer service been useless. They used to be great to do business with and I used to use them for everything. But now they're good for nothing.
Is Buy.com connected to them in any way?
Most of what I order online are books, dvds and video games so if you have any recommendations please pass on.

1. No problems the last time I ordered. |
|
But avoid Deep Discount DVD. Despite changing my address a few months beforehand, they sent my order twice to the old address. I lost out. No DVD; no refund.

2. I know this doesn't help, but |
|
Two years ago, I ordered about $175 of books and calendars from Amazon about 3 weeks before Christmas.
On December 23, I received an email from them saying NOTHING shipped.
In a panic, I printed the email and brought it to Barnes and Noble, confessed my sin, and asked the 20-something clerk for help. Damned if she didn't run around the store and find me all but one item (very obscure book on Inuit art). So ended up spending my $150 at B&N (and letting the manager know how impressed I was with the clerk). So no more Amazon for me, unless it's 1) obscure and 2) no time constraints.
How about Powells? I've only shopped there in person, but you hear GREAT things about them.

7. I've heard good things about B&N online |
|
Back in '03 I ordered my mom one of those real expensive bibles from them and had no problems so they'll probably get all my book business from this day on.

3. are you buying from the marketplace or really from amazon itself? |
|
as long as you are actually buying the goods from amazon, i've been absolutely amazed at the speed of service
be careful of being routed to the marketplace -- when you click on a lower price because it's a used item or it's claims to be new item that "somehow" some private individual is selling on amazon, i've had some stinkers going that route -- i hate to say that because occasionally i sell in the marketplace myself but they don't vet your listings and people can list items and be sellers of really widely varying quality

Resellers using Amazon software can be unreliable, but I haven't had any problems from Amazon themselves. That's when the shopping function in the Google search results is really helpful. You can find out which merchant has the better reputation.
I've ordered once from DeepDiscountDVD last year and am getting read to again. They also have given me good service. They supply me with all my Johnny Depp and Sean Bean material. ;-)

6. I get better service and accountability from the marketplace sellers |
|
These past two orders have been directly through Amazon and people on ebay do better than they can
