I got a better hotel in downtown DC so I'm calling the place in Silver Spring to cancel my rate but they say I can't because it was a reduced 'no-cancel' rate.

:wtf:

Doesn't matter to me - I was never charged anyways and I used a credit card that was to expire this month (and I already got the replacement card). Of course I'm telling this to the manager that, in a nutshell, I won't be showing up to their motel AND that they have never charged me AND they can't charge me because the card is no longer valid so why not cancel the room so it will be available for someone else to use.

:grr:

No sweat off my back. I just confirmed with my CC company - I can't be charged on an expired credit card.

1. Hotels
They are getting stickier lately
Most have the 'non refundable' prepay, its a lower rate, and they deduct the total from your
card when the reservation is made...

Did they deduct the $$$ when you made the res?, usually that is the case....

True, if so you are lucky they cant charge an expired card.....

:hi:

3. does the replacement card have the same number?
Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 04:08 PM by pitohui
i wouldn't be too sure you can't charged unless the card is cxl'd altogether

my replacement cards for expired cards have the same number and can perfectly well be charged for any "no shows" i incur

the hotel should have disclosed their cancellation policy at the time you gave them the cc #, i'm pretty sure there is still a chance you can be billed but i'd then report them to their state's atty general if you are confident that they didn't disclose the cxl policy upfront

4. well I'll call me CC company on it but they confirmed that it couldn't be done
if it can I'll just cancel the card and get a replacement one.

No sweat off my back
