A little story I might share with you

Back in the day, I worked in Tech Support. We were right next to Customer Service, who was recruited from strip clubs in the bay area. Anyway, one of the CS Agents was working a weekend, as was I. For the story let's call her "Ashley." For the record, she is white.

She came to work, high on meth, and started taking her clothes off. She was literally running around the office naked.

I was the only white guy doing TS duty that weekend, the other two Tech Support engineers were black.

We were trying to get her home, and out of trouble, despite her attempts to end up otherwise.

She asked that she would be driven home, but both of the other TS folks refused. Understandably so - they knew that if word leaked back that they took an OD'd White Girl back to her apartment, fingers would point to them. I couldn't argue with that.

So I took her back home, locked the door in a way she couldn't escape until sober, and left.

Later, when talking with the police about this (lots of things happened afterward) I told them I had taken her home. The cop, a Sunnyvale Policeman, asked if either of the other tech support engineers were there. I said no. The fact that this was even asked confirmed what they said was true.

So in the light of all this Ashley shit, let me remind you all that some cops are still looking to tie a racial motive into these things.

Kudos to the Philly Police for seeing through the BS.

And Kudos to my ex-coworkers for pointing out something to me that I didn't understand at the time.
