The long version is this

I was headed up the road, and here comes a dog. This dog doesn't have an owner attached. I looked around, but it was a very solitary dog. So I took her under my wing, and called Animal Control, but they were out. So I called the police dept, and they asked me to bring her in. On the way there, another couple recognized her, and we stopped. They called the owner, and I got on the phone with her, and asked her a trick question about the dog, after I had her describe the dog, she passed the test, then showed up, and all was well. Except my back. It's a bitch to walk a bitch (haha) that far only holding on to a collar.
