I want to donate through DU, does a star appear right away? Does "Democratic Underground" show up on the credit card bill?

I don't think it's ever taken longer than 12 hours.

5. The star lasts for 12 months.

Doesn't matter what you donate: 5 dollars or 5 thousand,
any donation gets you 12 months of "donor" status.

The 'Search' function alone is worth the donation, believe me.

Nothing will be sent to you. DU doesn't sell
your name to any of the junk-mail brokers, and
it doesn't mail any requests for donations.

Although, posting here WILL get you noticed
by the programs that search the WWWeb and categorize/label
folks for MMMarketers, just like posting ANYWHERE will these days.

I've noticed a serious surge in the number
of political "mass mailings" hitting my inbox
since I found this place.


That's hard to avoid these days- I posted a single question
on a "Honda Owners" site back when I got my little scooter
last Xmas, and spam from cycle dealers/accessory warehouses/discount insurers
started hitting my inbox around January 5th.

That'd be kinda impressive if it wasn't so annoying, knowhutImean? :o
