Have halloween decorations been getting lamer with time?
I've been looking at my neighbors, and it seems halloween decorations have been getting more childish. More cartoony. All the usual suspects only with big goofy, friendly smiles, tacky purple and green color schemes, and so on. It's like people make halloween decorations so they don't frighten little kids, but I bet even little kids feel their intelligence insulted by some of this stuff. What's wrong with genuinely ghoulish decorations? I'm not saying R-rated, John Carpenter, 80's death metal ghoulish. But can't they put just a little effort into making it at least a little creepy? Maybe Ub Iwerks Skeleton Dance creepy if there are kids about?

3. My neighbor has one I like.
Giant frickin' spider on his RV. But yeah, most of them suck.

And when they aren't inflated they just flop on the lawn like a giant used condom. Tacky.
