1. Great pics!
I got vertigo on that one from the Eiffel Tower.

The pics in the Louvre remind me of the day I got lost in there, lol. Do they still have those scary women guards?

3. But you don't mean this guard, or?

21. Lol, there were women guards in each room
and if someone ventured too near the artwork...they would hiss.

I found it hilarious, because obviously a hiss is understood in every language. People would jump back immediately.

22. Oh I know what you mean
it happened to me in the Sixtine Chapel in Rome. It was full of people and a guard (a catholic guard of course) would hiss and say "silencia" (or something like that). Then it would be quiet for a bit till the sound level would rise again. Because whoever stands in the Sixtine Chapel won't be able to hold back the excitement about Michelangelo's art and genius.

27. Last summer we were in the Louvre, and some guy set his camera on top
of a Sumerian carving to take a self-portrait. The scary woman guard was so shocked she didn't rip him the new asshole he so richly deserved (although realistically, there's no way a 6 ounce plastic camera is going to damage a 4000 year old chunk of a column)...

It was pretty funny - although they were a lot less funny when they were herding us out at closing time!

9. great shots as usual
i'm amused that there is considerable wear around the nipples of that nude female in the garden...

and when everyone's back was turned, you should have swiped the mona lisa and put a forgery in its place! oh wait -- that's been done like 100 times already, right?

one of the best things about DU is I can travel to places all over the world - and I probably won't be able to get to any of them for several years.

I've just been too lazy and distracted to post mine. And today looks no different.

Pinch me because it is going to be 65F and 68F tomorrow, totally sunny skies both days. Mild through the 15th -- we'll see. I'm liking this! :D

32. I was afraid that I missed
your Paris pictures, but here they are "whew". You certainly take some good angle shots, most interesting, and very effective.

And . . . I think I could spend a whole week in the Louvre alone!

Sorry to hear that you were sick last week, but glad to hear that you are feeling better.

:hi:  :loveya:

33. One thing I'll definitely bring next trip to Europe
Is a tripod. My low-light pics were the best ones, and a lot of the great stuff was indoors (cathedrals, etc.). I found myself constantly looking for a place to set the camera on, so it would hold still enough for a pic. The difference between low light, and full light pics was like night and day.

Your low-light pics are very good. Did you have a tripod, or just a better camera than mine?

These were in Florence.
