1. the first three books are great
the last book wasn't perfect, but I liked it.

It pales in comparison to True Blood though, which I haven't read, but seen the tv show of. And that book series came out like 10 years earlier, so Twilight is a ripoff of True Blood. It mirrors it in so many ways its laughable.

The Twilight movie will probably suck though. But I still think it'll do about $60 million its opening weekend.

5. I just bought the first two books on the recommendation of a friend
I almost gave up at page 23, but I've managed to slog through to page 452. I expect I will finish it, but I will donate it to my library along with the second one, which I will not bother reading. (There're 264 people on the waiting list, which is why I bought them in the first place.)

I'm a pretty objective editor/reviewer, and I do appreciate that they are geared toward a hormone laden, YA audience, but these books are poorly written and pretty damned boring. Not to mention predictable.

The thing that I like about Rowling's books and what captured my interest in the first place was the fact that she doesn't talk down to her audience. Her plots are sound. Her characters are interesting and they change and grow, and whatever flaws her last book has, the series is still one of the best I've read.
