Wife's car was broken into, and now I need Garage Door Openers (Question)
Edited on Wed Nov-12-08 08:04 PM by Wolsh
Last night my wife's car was broken into. I can't figure out how they did it because the weatherstripping isn't broken and no windows were smashed. My bedroom window is right over my driveway and I heard nothing. Nor did my amazing shetland watchdog who, even though he barks at things like the wind, my farts, grass, didn't hear anything worth alerting me to last night. I found him stretched out under my bed this morning. I got in his face a little bit.

All they took from the car was an iPod, a phone charger, and, for what ever reason a bag of magazines that we were going to recycle. (Any ideas on this would be appreciated).

My Garage looks something like this:

Is there any single garage door opener that can open those doors independent of each other?

.

1. I'd check with whoever manufactured the door openers.
For example, if the openers are made by Craftsman, I'd get the model numbers and give their service line a call. Some of them operate on a particular frequency, and thieves will drive around clicking on a rogue opener until a garage opens. Saw an expose on it a couple of years ago.

Sorry your wife's car was broken into. That sucks.

5. Aha, got it.
I don't know of a single motor opener that will open the doors independently. I think you'll have to get two openers, one for each door. Could be wrong. Been a while since I shopped for one.

2. mine was stolen along with my car, we have a genie garage door opener, we bought
a new remote, i guess when you program a new one the old one no longer works. People who steal things out of cars and well cars suck. You should be able to go to the hardware store and pick up a new remote.
