Canadian football has gotten wierder than usual |
|
I was listening to the CBC morning show as they attempted to explain this. Near as I can understand...
Due to something called the "crossover rule", if Edmonton beats Montreal in the next game, the (normally) East vs. West, Grey Cup will actually be between two cities' teams (Calgary's the other one) that are two hour's drive apart, in Montreal, a city on the opposite side of the country.
:wtf:?

1. I went to an Argonaut's game a few years ago |
|
best I can remember was hanging out in the bar at the Skydome and running into some guys with Philadelphia Eagles Jerseys on. Since I was on business and by myself - those guys became my drinking buddies for the night.
You canadians can pound some booze.

CFL Crossover Rule: If the fourth place team in Division A has more points than the third place team in Division B, the fourth place team in Division A will make the playoffs and the third place team in Division B will not.

12. Wait a minute. They're down to eight teams, in two four-team divisions. |
|
So the "fourth place team in Division A" would also be known as the last-place team in Division A -- yet it makes the playoffs?! Even the NHL isn't as screwed up as that! With all the expansion, "only" about half the league makes the playoffs! :eyes:
