I have 29,691 pennies. Ask me anything. |

No I'm not bullshitting, no I haven't been Saturday night binge-drinking, and no I haven't been taking Saturday night acid. God's honest truth.
I just got done rearranging and re-wrapping my pennies, and I only need 309 of them (roughly about a pocket full) to reach 30,000.
And I feel comfortable in telling you this, because no one would ever want to steal them, even if they found out where I live. Too inconvenient. They way over 120 pounds, and you would need a Dolly to cart them around, and you can't spend 30,000 pennies anywhere. And I can't think of any bank that would except that many pennies in exchange for three C-notes.
Oh, and one more thing: A man who had 26,000 pennies was featured in a national news special interest story a few years ago. Another man who had a couple thousand more than me was invited onto Good Morning America last year. But I'm not accepting any media invitations.;)

4. I haven't counted them all at once in years. |
|
I have them wrapped in rolls of 50, bundled into bricks of 20 rolls, or 1,000.
And I'm 99.998 percent sure that every roll has 50. Every new 50 pennies I get, I put into a roll and seal up.

I'm counting on having 100,000 by my 40th birthday. Hopefully 250,000 when I die. That is, if pennies still exist.

3. Pretty sure a bank has to take them... |
|
as long as they're properly rolled. They'll ask you to write your name and phone number on them though, or don't they do that anymore?

6. My bank didn't - $500 in quarters and dimes |
|
My bank didn't want my account # or name on the rolls I brought in b/c they just turn around and give them right back out to a merchant for change. So you don't want your name and account info going to the wallyworld down the street.
I still have about $150 in pennies and nickels here at home.

You know, killer asteroids are attracted to large concentrations of pennies.
Something about etheric magnetism. The government is keeping it hush-hush to avoid panic.

16. I am a compulsive penny dropper |
|
I think it comes from when I was a little kid (4) I was able to buy a Lego set I really wanted with money that I had picked up off of the street. Now whenever I get pennies I place them (face up) in places where little kids, or anyone who needs some good luck will find them (I don't belive in the luck part, but they might.)

I'd count them a couple more times if I was you. You might have 29,693 or even 29,694 pennies.
