Fireball Over Denver

Witnesses Report Seeing Fireball In Sky

Meteor Streaks Over Metro Area Around 6:30 PM

February 26, 2004

DENVER -- If you saw something unusual in the night sky above Colorado Wednesay night, you weren't alone.

Many people called 7NEWS to report a fireball around 6:30 p.m. and the Museum of Nature and Science said it was likely a meteor.

"I did see the meteor as clear as day," said viewer Annmarie Maynard, who was in Westminster at the time. "I would say it came down in the mountains. It was not streaking across the sky but in a rather quick descent."...cont'd >

6. Why didn't I see it?
I'm right in Denver. Maybe because

a) I was assembling a new bushbusting website, face in monitor

b) It's been snowing all night

c) I was watching the Nuggetts lose to the Spurs by 26 points

d) I was in my undisclosed underground bunker

7. Sorry about the game
Well, not really. :D

FWIW, it was a stunner to Spurs fans, too. Kevin Willis for 17 points? Where did that come from?

I seriously wish this one had been televised. Told Haele we have GOT to get League Pass next year.

9. Yeah, and without Tim Dunkin'
Even in this year of Nuggetts improvement, any opponent always has a "designated assassin" - player who the Nuggs traded to your team who goes out and humiliates Denver. Last night it was the great Kevin Willis; every team has one because Denver's been a revolving door for the last 8 years. This is the team that passed over Vince Carter, AND Paul Pierce, AND Antawn Jameson in drafting Raef Lafrenz to become GM Dan Issel's own reincarnation.

However, if the Spurs can beat anyone by 26 with Tim on the bench, they are probably coming together to make a serious run at the Title. Fine by me - I like an actual TEAM instead of runaway egos. Tony Parker was awesome, BTW.

10. Thank you
Some of us Spurs fans think this may be the best thing for the team. Rasho finally woke up last night, the whole team is starting to come together.

Now, if they can just keep this level up when Tim comes back. That's the problem with playing with the best player in the league; it's too easy to sit back and let him do it all.

8. Oh Jesus, I gotta take another Xanax.
If you don't already know, I suffered a meteor/asteroid-related scare last Sunday. These type of things are my biggest fear in the world.
