Poll question: Booming, Thudding Bass music |
|
I can hear it pounding away at 2:15 am, even though it's 4 blocks away. When I took my kids to the park today, some people there had it booming and thudding away there too. It seems to be a normal part of the dominant culture here in Miamiu to have unbelievably loud boo-bass music pounding away, any time of day, any occasion - heck, even most of the stores in the nice malls do it here (all the places I've mentioned are in "good" neighborhoods.)
It really is maddening. I pray that my new neighborhood in SF won't have as much racket. At least when I took the kids to Golden Gate Park, it was nice and quiet there every time. There are ALWAYS noisy parties at the parks in Miami - in fact, they often set up those giant inflatable "bounce houses" without any permits, etc. (Miami is really annoying)
Anyway, is there a lot of the booming, bass-laden "music" being blasted all the time in YOUR neighborhood/town?

1. I don't know what the big deal is though? |
|
Go somewhere else, I'm sure there is a "quieter" location elsewhere. I just sense this censorship laden feeling from this post, like you would ban "bass-laden "music"" if you could. Scares me it really does.
Mothers hide your children, its that damn BASS again!!! AHHHHH!!!

3. Oh, Man, you have no idea... |
|
just how pissed off a lot of us can get when some lowlife scumsucking piece of shit decides we all want to hear his incredibly bad excuse for music. It is assault every bit as much as if that pantload came at us with a baseball bat.
Then, there are the parties till 4 AM. Now, I gotta admit I was an all-night party guy for many years and I don't have a problem with after hours clubs and the night ending some time a little after daybreak.
But, these are house parties we're talking about. And some of them can go on for days.
Your right to loud lousy music stops at my ears.

7. Bass-laden music is already illegal |
|
when it is audible more than 100 feet outside of your dwelling, or at any distance after 11 pm. At least that's the ordinance in Miami. I don'rt really try to have it enforced though, since that is the dominant culture of Miami, I would be fighting a losing battle. I only phone in complaints when it's REALLY bad, maybe 2-3 times a year.

When I live 2 blocks from a house and my windows rattle because they've got their bass on so loud? I own my home. I should just up and move because some inconsiderate kid (and yes, he is a kid) decides it is OK to play his music that loud?
I think not.

Probably has a $2000 stereo in his car and not a nickel's worth of insurance.
Deaf by 25 - that's my hope for him.

...move next to you and play my Captain Beefheart at full volume and bass.
Our right to play our music loudly ends right at the ears and shaking walls of others.

You're fucking kidding, right?
Call the cops every time it happens. Keep written records. Get the neighbors to call, too, so the cops don't think you're a lone kook.

B/C I have a $1500 dollar stereo in my car. I have 1000 watts going to 2 10" Memphis Audio subs. And Sony ES speakers all around.
I turn my bass down in neighborhoods and at traffic lights. I didnt buy my system to annoy people, I'm just an audiophile.

Alot of my friends have loud stereo systems. I like to turn it up to listen to my music and watch dvds, but me and my friends do not turn up our sound systems when most people are asleep.

6. No problem here. I live in the country. |
|
The farmers getting their crops in during all night marathons to beat the weather in the fall is as close as we get - that and the tanks at the firing range Ft. Knox a few miles away - now THAT'S a thudding bass.
Neither bother me. One is the sound of a family earning it's living by feeding the rest of us: the other is one of the necessary sounds of FREEDOM.
When it comes to loud stereos: your right to loud music ends where my ears begin. I understand this pretty well. I once made my living with a horn.

for the most part.
Occasionally someone (including me) will play their stereo loud on while they work outside on a Saturday afternoon.
There's one kid who lives up the road from me, drives an old white beatup Monte Carlo. He simply must, MUST drive to the convenience store at the end of our little coutry highway about 11:30pm, BOOM, BOOM, THUMPA THUMPA all the way. 20 minutes later... BOOM, BOOM, THUMPA THUMPA all the way back to his house. Each way, I hear him 5 minutes before he gets here and 5 minutes after he's passed. LOL!

12. My redneck neighbors.. |
|
every Sunday night play the boom-boom music until midnight. If it goes on past midnight, I place an anonymous noise ordinance call to the po-po. They'd never guess that it's me calling. I gotta sleep; class is at 8am!

18. Yup, I get high boomin' salsa and merengue |
|
Edited on Sun Feb-29-04 11:31 PM by Rabrrrrrr
It's like they don't know the meaning of "turn it down", and that's from apartments as well as the damn cars.
Also get boomin' rap and hip hop.
Oddly, I never hear boomin' Wagner or Zeppelin or Doobie Brothers or Miles Davis.
Only Salsa, merengue, hiphop, rap, and their derivatives.
Got one going by right now - that sounded like hip hop.
And it's nauseating music to begin with, it's like there are five or ten actuall bass tracks that are used in every one of those 900 million "songs", so not only is it too loud, and not only does it suck, but it's repetitive and UNINETERESTING, PLUS to be FORCED to listen to it is an act of violence and invasion.
Criminals.

so we get 15 minutes twice a day on school days of loud music when the kids come and go. Otherwise, it's quiet and peaceful all the time. I love my new neighborhood. :D
