7. Hahahahahaha!
CMW says he can't read that old style of German writing, so we're not sure what great-grandfather's letters say. I inherited about 100 of these letters, dating from the late 1800s, from my mother-in-law. :)

Thank you for your kind words!

3. My dear Heidi!
This is lovely!

I love the juxtaposition of the orderly language with the organic shapes of the colors...

I can see the layers...and seeing them makes me want to see more...

Thank you!

The piece is so small that my head was aching by the time I added the last layer. x(

Thank you, Peggy. :loveya:

Thank you, sweetie. I think Adam and Eve already have a new home -- but not until the end of December; otherwise there'll be a big white space on the wall during my exhibit.

13. We can't have that big white space
unless you're going for a John Cage thing - 4'33", the visual art version. ;)

18. One of the few advantages to being married to a musician
who loved 20th century music. I got to meet John Cage years ago. Fascinating man. Reminded me of the scientist in War Games. I've also met Pat Metheny (literally ran into him in a stairwell at U of IL), Tony Bennett, David Sanborn, Doris Day, Kathy Mattea and many 20th century percussion composers and performers.

Your mixed medium pieces fascinate me. Someday I'd like to know how you create a piece. I quilt, cast leaves in concrete and paint them and play music, but would love to know how to do what you do...

6. Heya, gf!
It's one of 11 pieces in my group exhibit that starts Nov. 29. I'm sooooooo far behind. I thought making small mixed media pieces would be a snap. I was wrong. This one has way too many layers; the painting itself is thicker than the mat around it.

20. I volunteer with someone who came over from Germany
She said it was hell to get her dog into the US. They were trying to convince her it would be cheaper and simpler to just leave with family. She won, though, after jumping through hoops.

I guess if I hit the mega I'd try to change the international pet-type family members travelling with you laws as I went :)

Tell Ginger thanks and give her a big ol' hug.

making to go with her gifts for her 14th birthday. It includes transfers of photos of her when she was little. :)

29. Thank you, MissHoneychurch.
The work itself is very small, 12 x 12 cm, but it's behind a white mat, in a chunky (about 4.5 cm thick) black frame, 23 x 23 cm. At first, I was skeptical about putting very modern, black frames around works that have a very "old" feel to them, but CMW's mom convinced me to give it a try, and she was right. They look really marvelous in the fat, black frames. :)

Happy Friday!

and the wheat sure smells sweet when the wind comes right behind the rain and all that. It's damn hard to compete with wind, plains, wheat, sweet and rain when you're 14.
