Do you have family members who seriously believe that Obama is the Anti-christ? What is their reasoning?

"It's right there in the Bible!"
:eyes:
Pointing to the Bible is supposed to eliminate the possibility of debate on the subject.
P.S.: My in-laws are not terribly bright...

8. Oh, they insist it's in Revelation. But they never point to anything specific. |
|
All their twisted ideas come from charlatans like Pat Robertson and Hal Lindsey, not the Bible.

14. Ah HA! But Tim LaHaye, said that Obama is NOT the Anti-Christ, SO THERE! |
|
;) Tim LaHaye, the "prophecy expert" of "The Left Behind" Series, said that Obama is not the anti-christ because the Anti-Christ MUST COME FROM EUROPE. I guess he doesn't want to look foolish, because the Left Behind Anti-Christ is a Romanian.

|
that Revelations never mentions "the antichrist"?
it mentions two beasts, from the sea and from the land that resemble the Roman Emperor and the high priest of the emperor worship cult.
The word "antichrist" is only found in the epistles of John, and it does not refer to one man, but many who deny Christ.

21. Thank you. I know about this because I was a religious studies |
|
major in college. I think the problem is that the folks who believe Obama is the anti-christ don't actually read the Bible or take some passages out of context. Also, they don't hold to modern interpretations. It dates back to the 19th century interpretations of Dispensationalism. One of the fallacies of Dispensationalism is that Revelations is COMPLETELY about the future, but it's actually mostly about first century CE persecutions of christians.

I don't feel like she is racist, but she did grow up in the south in a crazy time. This is my mom's sis and I know my mom isn't racist, so I want to believe that my aunt isn't either. That is all I know. I always want to see the best in people. But I am not a naive gal either.

That's why I said it was a RACIST COMMENT. I don't know your aunt, so I can't judge her. However, that is not a COMMENT that I can defend in anyway.

|
The "Beast" or "Anti-Christ" is a terrible creature who persecutes christians. It does the whole term a disservice to compare Obama to the Anti-Christ.
I'm an atheist, but I can give the Bible some credit on this fact. An antichrist is not a liberal or a conservative, he/she is a cruel dictator.

30. It is the tactics of deception. |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-26-08 01:19 AM by RandomThoughts
It is a meme being promoted to be used in 2016 as a whisper campaign. That is why their is all the fictional discussion of his birth certificate. His Hawaii birth proves he is not, within the belief system of many Christians.
It is deception and fear being peddled by the real darkside of the world. They are perpetuating it to fool many who want to believe in the Love of God, but believe in fear instead.
This is also why they also try to make him look like a messiah figure. To promote that meme.
When I voted I wore blue. The Republican behind the voting stand said to me that I was signing away my life and even slyly slipped in some references to Revelations.
This was my response while at the front of the voting line signing in. "My vote for political office is not my soul, it is just who I vote for, and I believe in God Almighty through Jesus Christ.
Mr. Obama and many other people are just people I vote for, and people I see as trying to live within the teachings of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who died 2000 years ago, and rose again 3 days later."
I wanted to continue on about all the people that by their logic are responsible for the years 2000-2008 but left it alone, and just voted.

Anti-Christ will be the very ones deceived. I am not bowing down and worshipping Obama. I haven't seen him perform Christ-like miracles.
I think repubs are not only pissed off they lost, they are also pissed off he is black and I really believe that. I don't believe repubs are racist (at least not all of them), but I am being real here. It scares them.
