What a stupid fucking idea.
Have you seen these new digital photo frames? Apparently you plug them into the electrical grid, download a picture from your computer type device and the thing displays your photo. I have a large quantity of similar devices in my home but mine are a solar powered. They are called picture frames. You put a photo in them and whenever there is a source of light, you can see the picture! They even work with a flashlight. They are totally off the grid as far as power consumption and very reliable. I have a few that have been working without any trouble for over 50 years.

Now why the hell would I want one that I have to plug in?

1. they store more than one photo
they were pretty useless until someone thought of a built-in slideshow

oh wait, they always had that feature

besides, a true lefty would hook it up to solar, and save the chemicals and paper and gasoline required to make and pick up photo prints :P

2. I've seen some that you can download many photos into,
and then it flips between the ones that you have in there. Sort of a slideshow in a frame. That said, I'd never buy one in a zillion years, but I can see the market for it.

3. I have one at my desk at work. Here's why:
I have very limited space at my desk, but wish to be surrounded by images of beauty and my loved ones. I don't have room for ten or so picture frames. My digital frame plays a slideshow for me of about 200 photos on a slow rotation. It is perfect.

What do you think - a practical application? I think so.

moving pictures with sound. Instead of having to pay to watch actors performing live, people will be able to watch threatrical productions on one of these devices.

5. Piffle. Who wants to hear actors talk from a little tiny box?
