Does anyone use Skype for phone calls or webcams?

1. Not for calls, but we use the chat feature at work.

2. We use it to call China several times a week

my daughter has a class in Chinese a few times a week with the teachers from China, and my wife's family is from there as well. Rarely have any problems with it.

3. My husband and his son do a webcam every Sunday night

since his son moved to Texas. They have had a few nights with some dropped connection, but not often. If I forget and start streaming something while they are on the phone it will disrupt them. They both love it!

4. I'm interested in Skype

I have a friend in another country I would love to use it to chat with. What do you need to do it?

9. Just download the software, and if you have a microphone you're all set.

If the friend has a computer, and they download the software, you two can talk for free pc-to-pc.

It's basically VoIP.

5. I've gotten the sound to work

but the cam is a whole different matter. Lelapin can see me but I can't see her. I'm running Vista and she has a Mac. x(

My mac webcam is very strange... it's finicky and rarely works.

I don't use the webcam thing very often, but I use the chat feature every day, and sometimes put money on it to make calls, especially when I'm in a foreign country and have internet access, but not a working cell phone.
