I need a ruling on a cat issue please. |
|
neighbor cat Blue spends a lot of time in my yard, nice kitty but he's drinking out of the pool which is chlorinated, if i put a bowl of water out on the deck is that okay, i don't feed him ever but the i'm afraid he might get sick from the pool water.
please and thank you.

3. Do you know the neighbor? |
|
The best course would be to let the cat owner know about the pool drinking so that the owner can provide an outdoor water source for their cat.
Alternatively, putting out your own water shouldn't be a problem for the cat owner.

7. The problem with putting out your own fresh water |
|
Is that it could attract unwanted night critters (such as raccoons) if you don't take it in each night.

|
my neighbors lawns one morning last week, there was about 7 of them and one of them was massive, i think it was pregnant.

10. That's not good news for that outdoor kitty |
|
felines and raccoons don't mix very well, usually ending with the feline getting the short end of the stick.

5. My cat only drinks from the pool. He ignores fresh water. |
|
He's 19 and still kicking, so I don't think it hurt him.

9. Both of my crazy cats like to drink from the pool when I let them out |
|
And they also have a drinking fountain *and* drink from the sink faucet in the bathroom! I think cats think it's demeaning to drink from a bowl IMHO. lol

11. I'd tell the neighbour. They would likely really appreciate it and likely would put a bowl of |
|
water out for their cat themselves.

12. Cats prefer moving water. Given a choice between moving |
|
pool water and still water in a bowl my bet is the pool water everytime.

Cats are odd. Someone needs to spread that message. :)

Cats are really odd. I put fresh water out daily for mine, but she prefers my dirty bath water.

16. You know that old saying? |
|
You can lead a horse to water but you cant make him drink. I think they meant to say cat there.
Cat's drink where they want to drink. I dont think the chorine will hurt a cat, I had a cat that lived to be 20 who drank from my pool everyday. I had water fountains and bowls always filled, but that cat liked the pool best.

17. my cat whines when she doesn't have a fresh bowl of water |
|
then, after I scrub her bowl and fill it with fresh, she sticks her nose in the air, meanders over to the horse trough, climbs on the edge and bloody near drowns getting a drink. If she can't reach the water cause the trough is due for a clean n'refill, then she drinks from the muckiest puddle she can find. Preferably one with some turds floating in it.
Same stoopid routine. Every day.
