I posted this burried in another thread. My dad died on Nov 28 1998
I sent this email to my daughters today. They are both grown and married and moved away. I wanted to pass this down

Girls
Last night -- and again tonight I think -- if you can see the moon right after sunset, you will see two stars with it in the sky. They aren't stars -- they are planets. The larger one nearest to the moon is Venus and the other is Jupiter. If you look through binoculars or a telescope you can maybe see one of the moons of Jupiter.

It is really an amazing sight. Mom and I saw it last night on the way to school and it was already out of sight by the time we got out of class and got home. Its worth taking a look. This configuration will not happen again in my lifetime. I wanted to share it with you . (i'm sorry I didn't get this sent earlier)

I saw it one other time. I was about 7 yrs. old. My father called us all out on to the front porch of 10 Maple Lane in Galveston to show it to us. It was really neat. I guess I was too young to understand what he meant, but he told us that this would not happen again in his lifetime and that this is something we could tell our kids about.

Its been 10 years now. I miss you Daddy.

So, there it is up in the sky, from my Dad to you. Enjoy.

Your Dad (a little teary eyed)
