Good morning Lounge
it is Wednesday, hump day :)
Today at work we will have a "Frankfurt Green Sauce" lunch with a bunch of colleagues. So I will be gone in between for an hour or so (around noon my time). Here is an explanation from Wiki.

German Grüne Soße
There are two traditional types of Hessian Green Sauce which are popular in the Frankfurt am Main and Kassel area. The Frankfurt-style is made from hard-boiled eggs, oil (but not olive oil), vinegar, salt, and generous amount of seven fresh herbs, namely borage, sorrel, cress, chervil, chives, parsley, and salad burnet. Variants, often due to seasonal availability include dill, lovage, lemon balm and even spinach or basil. In more frugal times, daisy leaves, broad plantain leaves, and dandelion leaves were also used. Since the sauce is mainly an emulsion of fat and egg yolk, it may be classified as a kind of mayonnaise (although common mayonnaise uses raw yolks). Today, buttermilk, sour cream ("Saure Sahne" with 10 per cent fat, or "Schmand" with 24 per cent fat), quark, or yogurt is often added in order to reduce the oil content of the sauce. The green sauce typical of the city of Kassel is made with a sour cream base.

The sauce is served with peeled boiled potatoes, accompanying either hard-boiled eggs or roasted beef brisket. Hard apple cider is a typical accompanying drink. This was supposedly Goethe's favorite meal; a legend that his mother invented it is likely apocryphal.

About the Goethe part. His mother did NOT invent it. The Green Sauce got invented when she was dead already. Since I work in the Goethe museum (his birthplace) and we just have an exhibition about her, the lady who did the exhibition invited those for the lunch, whom helped with the exhibition. And some of us bring our own Green Sauce, so we will have different styles. That will be fun :)

8. Good morning MissH!
Interesting reading about the green sauce. I'll have mine on brisket please! And food is a great topic, never tire of it.

Also interesting coincidence, you working at the Goethe Museum, and me researching the Goethe Institute in NYC (work related). Ah, the world is full of coincidences. ;)

Oh, and great staircase pic. I love the lighting.

24. Speaking on mental
health days. I truly was going to take today off, but I'm waiting for some important information I need here at work, *sigh*. So I'm checking my work calendar and trying to fit a sick day in before the holidays!

Next week? Not too close to Christmas.

My days are filling with meeting these days, I have no chance to take off a day. Also, my co-worker wants to take a day off or two. And since I don't have any vacation days left I am stuck here. But at the moment it is busy enough to keep me occupied. Also I have the Lounge :D

29. What is it with meetings!
We've been having so many lately wasting our time (in my opinion) that it's difficult to get our real work done.

I agree, it's going to be hard to schedule a sick day off. Should have taken today off. Oh well, hindsight is a wonderful thing. ;)

Yeah, I'd rather be outside playing in the snow. We've got a couple inches already, and should get some more.

Good luck with the laundry.

26. Thank you.
I can remember the days when we had to do laundry by hand in the bathtub and hang it in front of the heater. Took DAYS to dry the jeans. I swore I would never complain about doing laundry if I ever got a washing machine. OK, so I'm not complaining ... I'm just not DOING it.

I'm not one to play in the snow. I don't like snow or cold, so I end up hibernating all winter long. One thing I miss about FL is warm wintertime.

28. Really? You did laundry
in a bathtub! I'm truly impressed. That doesn't sound like fun.

In my old place during summer I'd hang laundry out on a wash line. Everything smelled so fresh.

But I never have done laundry in a bathtub. Trust me, I'd be wearing my stuff for multiple days if I'd have to do laundrey that way!

I'm not fond of the cold, but playing in the snow is fun.

30. Yep.
No money for the laundromat. It's not fun, especially trying to wring out jeans. But we had no choice. I don't think we wore things until they stood up on their own, but we might have worn jeans twice.

We just started using the dryer again last month. I had a clothesline put in back in April and we were able to use it all summer long. It's just too cold now. I tried a few times in the cold, but nothing gets dry, even if it's not freezing.

I like to cross country ski, although I've only done it a few times. It was a LOT more fun than I expected it to be. I don't know if we get enough snow around here for that.

skiing. Hopefully we'll get enough snow to go, and hopefully it'll last until the weekend.

Okay, I've got to get serious and do some work. They just delivered a new filing cabinet to my office, so I'd best get organizing.

Wishing you a great day!

Today I am wearing contact lenses for the first time in 3 years! It feels weird and I keep reaching to readjust my glasses when I bend down, and there are no glasses there

Have a great day!
