was listening to Stern...
Edited on Mon Mar-01-04 10:51 AM by gorrister
and he was talking about Mel Gibson

Stern said Gibson "sickens me" and "I never knew you could make that much money off of Jesus."

also when Robin read a story saying that Gibson said he's going to forgive all the critics of his movie, he said "oh, he thinks he's Jesus now."

Gibson is an insane idiot. No wonder the freepers love him.

4. Howard Stern doesn't pretend to be Holy....
He's never been my favorite, but he's not a hypocrite.

5. Oh yes he is..
Just take a look at his trophy girlfriend. For years he criticized stars for leaving their first wife for a younger trophy wife. I could go on for hours of examples of how this man is a hypocrite.

9. No doubt that, in some areas, he is a hypocrite, but he didn't leave
Allison.

If you've listened to him for some time, you realize how much of a workaholic he really is. As much as he complains about his work, he keeps doing it. (Well, if I had strippers coming in every day to my office, I'd have perfect attendance).

I did realize that for quite some time before they officially broke up, he and his wife had stopped talking on the air. I noticed this after the breakup, but realized that they had stopped having Allison call in, a staple of their show.

She remarried rather quickly after the divorce. He played the field for some time after that, but you cannot find anybody who claimed that they actually had sex with him before the official breakup.

10. You're using that as an example of Hypocrisy...
The dude was married to one women for over 20 years and they divorced... He blasted the Pro Family preachers like Limbaugh for being Hypocrites about Pro Family but yet being divorced themselves multiple times... He never acted all high and might about it Pro Family shit....

So then his wife wants a divorce, he get's divorced and then he meets a terrifically wonderful woman Beth, who happens to be hot as well... What the fuck is wrong with that. BTW: He's dated her for 2 years now...

26. Do you listen to him?
His show is a joke. It was funny years ago and it has gone down hill over the years. He got worse and I grew up.

You must be a lawyer with that kind of deductive whit. I stopped listening to him about 5 years ago.

If you like fart jokes, KKK celebrities, and fifty year old men begging woman to take off their cloths. If you also like misfits comparing penis sizes then have a party my friend, blah blah blah...

28. I am 45 and my Mama has been dead for 15 years.
First off he doesn't broadcast in the city I have lived in for 5 years. Also, you don't have to listen to him to hear about him. He tends to be in the news quite a bit.

I guess I mis-understood. I didn't realize I was arguing with a 15 year old. Sorry, have fun with Howard for the next 15 years (or at at least until you grow up).

15. For years
this man did dial-a-dates with his competition after they would divorce. His motto was everyone's life can be on air fodder. However, no one was aloud to talk about his divorce.

He is a closet racist that hides behind Robin. I can go on for hours about this mans hypocrisy.

I'll just leave it with any 50 year old heterosexual that is obsessed with the size of a mans penis is probably not a great poster child for democrats.

7. yeah he's creepy
and Gibson is always going on about how this his movie is so spiritual and how he poured his soul into it and how he conquered his personal demons and how everyone is against him blah blah blah, yet he's making tons of money from it, and selling all sorts of trinkets (http://breaking.tcm.ie/2004/02/25/story135781.html) There just seems something unseemly making a tidy profit off of religion to me.

6. Remember that Gibson is helping to fund Farenheit 911.
Michael Moore's next film, a.k.a. the Dem's September Surprise. Gibson hates Bush* nearly as much as we do, but for different reasons.

13. not anymore...
http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,11787,00.html?newsrellink

Gibson's Icon production company backed out. Miramax is doing it now. One source said the deal with Moore was originally drafted by Gibson's partner, Bruce Davey, while Gibson was in Italy. The source was quoted as saying that when Gibson found out about it, "he didn't want any part of it."

8. Stern vs. Gibson
I don't see how this boils down so neatly into a Stern vs. Gibson thing... Someone is, of course, free to like both or neither (though "neither" seems more likely). Sure, Stern can be busted on doing some stuff himself that he's made jokes about others doing, but what comedian or satirist can't? The fact that Gibson has essentially already made "Passion" with himself as Jesus (the last 20 minutes of "Braveheart"?!) is a lot creepier. Was anyone else expecting Jesus to yell "Freedom!" at the end?

12. Safire bashed "Passion" today too.

Said it used Jesus to raise the bar on violence in movies.

I saw another critic call it a "snuff film".

I liked a vent in the Atlanta paper today:

"I don't need to see the movie. I've read the book."

Would you be happier if he had said he was going to hold a grudge against his critics forever?

18. It makes it sound...
as though it matters whether he does forgive anyone or not. No one cares if Mel holds grudges against all the critics or not.

I don't really care for Stern one way or another but I got to agree with him on this -- Mel is trying to make himself sound as though he's some sort of Jesus figure -- hopelessly persecuted, and now he's forgiving those that persecute him. Mel should expect to face criticism for his film (regardless of what Mel says, that's all it still is) by anyone.

:puke:

Edited on Mon Mar-01-04 12:09 PM by Kamika
Freepers like Gibson in the same way they like jews atm

He's a catholic.. ONLY reason they like him is because he made a movie about Jesus.

They hate catholics.

22. I wouldn't go that far...
to say all freepers hate Catholics. There are loads of Catholic freepers. I've seen some anti-Catholic posts there, but they're not the majority. But yes, freepers are very fickle, and it's always fun to watch them turn on their "heroes". Like Christopher Hitchens is now on their shitlist because he dared to criticize their pwecious Passion. I'm sure if Gibson ever says or does anything they feel is critical of the GOP, or America, they'll turn on him too.
