Post the single best photograph you've ever taken. (of anyone, or anything)
I took this during my visit to the Hiroshima memorial more than twenty years ago.

Just happened to catch this little one in front of the eternal flame for the victims. Not technically great, but I felt lucky.

1. This one won a Purina pet photo contest and a year's worth of feed

The scan does not do it justice - the contrast is off.

Seriously though, I love comparing these two shots... almost exactly the same, but the tiniest change in perspective changes the entire feel of it.

And I like these... I kinda went nuts with my camera when I was faced with my first real winter in 20 years. :)

And once again... that same old barn/old train loading storage building

Unfortunately, they are rather big! If possible, could you resize them?

I know photobucket gives you the tools to do that...

I'm sure I've taken better pictures, but I'd have to scan them and my scanner broke. It's of Ramona Falls in the Mt. Hood Wilderness area. It's hard to get a good shot of it because it's in a very shady wooded area.

46. They're beautiful birds.
Quite large, with a 6 foot wingspan. Their principle diet is fish, and their claws are adapted so that they can grasp a fish with two talons on each side.

Glad you enjoyed the shots.

Wintersleep is the band.

It was hard to get good shots that night because I don't have a flash for my camera and it was obviously low-lighting conditions, so I had to shoot on 800 ISO film (brutal for loose grain) and hope for decent spotlight shots, this was the best one, as he was tuning his guitar. It's a scan of a print, so the quality is a little degraded there as well.

42. CMW posted these in the Photography Forum a while back.
I don't really do much photography, and when I do, it's just a matter of good composition. The fancy Nikon CMW and I gave each other for Christmas a couple of years ago deserves 99 percent of the credit.

Nice to see you, friend!

Edited on Sat Dec-06-08 03:56 AM by adsosletter
just posted a couple of shots this week. I just haven't had either the time or inspiration to go out and shoot.

I hear ya' about the cameras...my Sony, and photoshop, take a lot of the pain out of things. Still, some of those folks in the photo forum do some truly outstanding work, being professionals and all.

My wife and younger daughter are coming to St. Maurice pretty soon, to visit a Romanian friend who is doing a medical residency there.
I was told the predominant language in that part of Switzerland is French?

50. Do you mean St. Moritz?
Edited on Sat Dec-06-08 04:15 AM by Heidi
I was just there at the end of August/beginning of September. It's very, very international. When I was there, I spoke mostly English, but it's in the Upper Engadine, so you'll also find people speaking German -- and, plenty of people speaking Italian and French.

Here are some photos I took during my days in Pontresina, St. Moritz and the area. :hi:

60. It may well be St. Moritz...
the address she gave said St. Maurice, but when I looked it up on the net it said that it is also called St. Moritz, and a couple of other names.

We are trying to arrange schedules so that my older daughter can go also, but she is in 3rd year Medical school, so it will take some planning. Our friend has a place for the wife and girls to stay, so that shoud cut down on the cost some.

Your pictures suggest that the area is quite beautiful.

107. I hadn't either, until that night
I ran in the house and grabbed an old Fuji digital camera (3 megapixels, maybe?) and took a dozen shots with no flash. My hands have been shaking for several years now and the only one that turned out was the first shot. (no time to find the tripod) I was amazed. I've had it enlarged to a 16 x 20 and framed. People think it was taken in California during the wildfires.

the best pics are the ones taken spontaneously.

If I had to choose one best pic from my Photobucket, it'd have to be this one of my cat.

Although for a bit of whimsy, I like this one I took last May of my feet relaxing on the beach.

Taken last Christmas, west of Dripping Springs, Texas. Cold, clear night, full moon, no tripod, time exposure. I used the wooden railing to the garage apartment at my parents' place for a long exposure. I like how it looks in this tilted format as it seems to add to the effect of a surreal image :)

and every now and then when there's no full moon and no overcast nights, you can see some of the stars ;)

Plus, these new-fangled 10megapixel cameras are quite sensitive to low-light levels, such as stars. You won't get pics of the Milky Way in Light-Pollution City, but you'll get more than three stars :D
