‘Profound developments’ in missing family case

BREAKING NEWS
NBC News and news services
Updated: 2:02 p.m. ET March 01, 2004TAYLORSVILLE, Miss. - A relative of three family members who vanished on Valentine’s Day will face charges related to their disappearance, but his court hearing was postponed at the last minute Monday because of "profound new developments."

The man, Earnest Lee Hargon, who was arrested Friday on unrelated drug charges, was taken Monday to a courtroom in Yazoo County to face multiple felony counts directly related to the disappearance of Michael and Rebecca Hargon and their 4-year-old son, James Patrick, said Warren Strain, a spokesman for the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Earnest Hargon is a cousin of Michael Hargon.

But minutes before Hargon was to be informed of new felony charges, Strain announced that the hearing was being delayed until Monday afternoon as investigators sped 100 miles to his home in pursuit of what Strain called "profound new developments." He would not elaborate.

I have feeling this is going to be a really sickening case. No doubt these people have perished, but I just have this awful feeling there is going to be a gruesome twist to this story.

2. No kidding? sigh
I wondered why they zeroed in on him in the first place.

There is supposed to be a news update on this still this afternoon or this evening.

Oh, just dawned on me that he's have to kill all of them if it was an inheritance dispute. Yes.

4. The father of the arrested man
left a will disowning his adopted son - the man under arrest - and giving his estate to the cousin - the missing father.

Frankly, I hope the father burns in hell for what he has caused. No doubt his "non-blood" adopted son will be right beside him.

5. Based on the adopted son's alleged behavior,
maybe the father wasn't wrong in his judgement?? The only one responsible for the murders (if that's in fact what happened) is the murderer.

7. Wait a minute. You want the father of the murderer to burn in hell??
We don't know the facts yet, but being disowned is not justification for murder. Maybe the father had good reason to disown him. These things don't happen in a vacuum.

6. *gross social commentary ahead*
Did he cram the child back inside the mother before killing them both? Because, the media won't touch it unless there's fetus involved.
