Just threw away four CARTONS of cigarettes |
|
I can't believe it, but I threw them right away. I never in a million years thought I would be doing that. Never. But it's done.
This is my ninth (or tenth) day of non-smoking. I'm not doing too bad. Couple of cravings.
I can't believe I'm now a non-smoker. I can't believe it!

although you could have probably sold those smokes and made a few dollars. With the price of cigarettes these days I don't know how anyone can smoke anything more than occassional social smoking (ie - a few smokes out at night with friends)

6. I've sucked down a brand new, fully loaded, babe-magnet car... |
|
I've been smoking since the summer of 1984. Five or six months ago, I crunched some numbers to see how much I've spent since then on my addiction-habit (a pack a day)
Figuring in the variances in price of smokes over the years, and allowing for COLA, it turns out I've spent just over $23,000.00 to pollute my previously pink lungs.
In other words, I've sucked down a brand new, fully loaded, babe-magnet car!! :banghead:
...and yet as soon as I hit "post message", I'll be stepping outside into a cold, windy, and overcast day to add more fuel to the fire, subtract another seven minutes of my life, and waste what would be approximately nine miles worth of gasoline (though your mileage may vary...). I don't feel very smart right now.

16. You know what? Fuck THAT! |
|
They were mine. I paid for them. And those mother fuckers have run MY FUCKING LIFE LONG ENOUGH! They had entwined their fingers around everything in my life and I goddamned well had the right to do with them what I wanted to do.
It gave me much more than $200 worth of pleasure to throw those mother fuckers in the trash. I DESERVED the honor of doing that and I fucking well took it.

The little soft death tubes lose their value fast when you don't count on them to be your daily calendar system (60 minutes OFF- 5 minutes ON-- REPEAT while AWAKE!)
Ha ha--you've broken their grip-they may have cost cash money at first but they are WORTHLESS now. Bust them up, soak them: let them lie in milky dumpster puddles behind the Quality Inn.
You are done with the smoking.
congrats :)

17. So they could entwine themselves into THEIR lives? |
|
Edited on Wed Dec-10-08 03:23 PM by Th1onein
I wouldn't do that to my worst enemy.
And, besides, I EARNED being able to throw them the fuck away. I am the one who paid for them. I am the one who learned to live without them. I EARNED the honor of throwing them the fuck away.

I tried to quit smoking probably a dozen times. But every time (except the last time) I smoked all the cigarettes I had before I "quit". The last time I quit (almost 19 years ago) I had about a carton left. I threw them away and quit - Well I took one pack and ripped into it, tearing up the cigarettes and flushed the remains down the toilet.
You are right, you did not throw away anything of value, and to sell or give them away to me is ethically unsound.

in 1985, but it has now been 23 years and I couldn't be happier I stopped.
GOOD FOR YOU!

25. Congratulations. I found Champix/Chantix worked for me. Don't forget |
|
to sign onto the quitnet.com for extra support while you quit. Good luck. You are doing great. And it feels really wonderful a few months into your quit. You feel like you are in control of your health. You will never regret it.
