I don't know about potato carbs, but wheat-based carbs have an effect similar to seratonin. Most people are addicted to them.... :hi:

I tend to like cabbage. I cut off a bit of it and eat it as a snack. When there is cauliflower and/or broccoli around, I'll eat those. If not, I'll eat a little cabbage. Yum! :P

23. For me it's sesame chicken with either egg rolls or crab rangoons. |
|
The last two depend on which place I get my food. The nice place I usually go to doesn't have very good crab rangoons, but their egg rolls are good. Whereas the cheap little place down the street from me has excellent crab rangoons, but cheap everything else. :P

generally speaking it is associated with childhood or happy memories, thus it's different for most folks.
BTW The new restaurant will prominently feature comfort food! ( albeit with a modern treatment)

30. What IS Comfort Food? |
|
It might be as subtle as something you had as a child and enjoying it again brings back the days of olde. On the other hand having a bad day often requires nutrition of a certain kind. It's the kind that you don't feel guilty about(at least not right away). You don't think about the calories or the fat content but when you enjoy it(savor it!) it will help a bad day be erased from the mind if only for a little while. It's the kind of food you reach for on a rainy day, a snowy day,the day the phone bill arrives--it's balm for the stomach. Rarely will it be a salad unless it's a costly one. Rarely will it be a piece of fruit or a bowl of veggies. It's the double chocolate chip with caramel and fudge ice cream kind of food. Make a mental note what you consume when you are having a bad day. You will see a trend of the kind of foods you grab for.

...just had the leftovers last night. I use the recipe I grew up with (elbow macaroni, Campbell's Cheddar Cheese Soup prepared with one can of milk and one cup of shredded sharp cheddar, spray the casserole with Pam to prevent sticking, mix the mac with the soup mixture, spread it evenly in the casserole, add another cup of shredded cheddar on top, sprinkle that with Progresso plain bread crumbs, and sprinkle that with paprika, bake in a 350 oven for 1/2 hour). Even better the next day (like most comfort foods).
My mom had about an 80% hit rate in the kitchen. Mac & cheese, meatloaf, meatballs, pasta e fagioli...the real comfort food stuff...I got all of those recipes and am grateful for it. The other 20%? Nah, we won't go there...
