And pretty good on their own, as well...

6. Larry's Clam Bar in Plaistow, NH
Fried clam plate with a humongous heap of fries and onion rings. It probably takes 18 months off of your lifespan, but it's worth it.

7. Yummmmm...unless, of course, you get that BAD batch and spend
the night outside the tent hurling (while on vacation at Cape Cod years ago...happened to me and my mom...eesh)
But I still love 'em :-)

9. A Friday tradition, back when we lived in Massachusetts...
The ones they have out here at Ivar's are pretty decent, but they don't have that HoJo, baby!

10. I used to love them
I also used to like the Howard Johnson's clams as a kid in New England...plus a great meal on vacation visiting my aunt and uncle in an old restaurant near Lake Winnipesaukee. They're just not as good out west.

Also, I'm suprised nobody's brought this up....remember the brouhaha about the supposed orgies taking place in plates of fried clams on HoJo's placemats?

17. Missed the brouhaha,
Miss the clams.

Have to head out on the road, but not in this weather, I think.

THANKS for the memories!

12. No better way to clog your arteries on a summer evening!
Some people can't stand them. They have a distinct smell, and the texture is unappetizing for some people.

Pretty similar to fried oysters, if you've ever tried those.
