Poll question: How would you describe my musical taste?
Edited on Mon Mar-01-04 11:18 PM by mvd
Love The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Simon & Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell (voice is adequate but her material is great,) New Pornographers, Kay Hanley, The Corrs, Nina Gordon and Abba -- not a Grateful Dead or KISS fan

Love Michelle Branch and like Avril and many other young pop/rockers quite a bit -- really dislike J. Lo, boy bands, Jessica Simpson, B*Witched, Justin Guarini

Not a Britney Spears, Celine Dion, or Christina Aguilera fan. Guilty pleasures include Bon Jovi and Shania Twain

Dislike rap (old R&B is much better IMO,) most metal (I like Ozzy, early Metallica, Lennon Murphy, System Of A Down,) hardcore punk, techno, reggae, pop of the kind I've mentioned

I enjoy Cat Power, Cindy Alexander, Jo Davidson, Abra Moore, Loreena McKennitt, P.J. Harvey, Thea Gilmore, Aimee Mann, David Gray, and Radiohead as well as Avril Lavigne and Sarah McLachlan

I enjoy traditional country and some new country

Think quite a few critical darlings like Jet, Guns n' Roses, Bjork, Lauryn Hill, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs are overrated

Love classical music but not opera very much

Dislike Creed, Kittie, and Godsmack even though I love Pearl Jam, The Donnas, Hole, Garbage, Sleater Kinney, and Stone Temple Pilots - newer Hanson and the Goo Goo Dolls are good, too

1. Interesting that someone put snobby
I never considered myself that way as I often disagree with critics on mainstream music too.

3. You sound eclectic, as you enjoy different dimensions of music.
Just like I do.

4. Pretty darned good music library --
-- very good bordering on excellent.

And you have it right on Joni Mitchell -- her material is pure essence.

I like how the Police incorporated it, though.

11. I Said "Selective, Not Snobby"
I know snobby musical tastes when i see them (actually if they look like mine, they're snobby), and you are no snob.

Might have a broad range of tastes and know what you like and don't like within each genre or subgenre. That's selectivity, not snobbery.

So, like i said, selective, but you like way too much to be a snob.
