The movie Delgo records worst opening in history. Averaging $55 per theater |
|
Edited on Mon Dec-15-08 06:33 PM by Quixote1818
This means there was about 3 people at each showing. I found this rather sad because it cost $40 Million to make, what sounds like a piece of shit and they couldn't even make one million the first weekend in over 2,000 theaters. They probably didn't even cover distribution costs this weekend. The investors are going to lose tens of millions on this. I bet there was a lot of crying and screaming after the numbers came in. http://forum.bcdb.com/forum/Delgo_disintegrates_during_disastrous_debut_P101165/http://www.delgo.com/

1. What "advertising blitz"? This is the first time I've heard of this movie. |

I'm on the internet constantly. I go to the movies about once a month. I wasn't aware such a movie existed.
What, were they advertising in newspapers?

|
This guy points that out in his blog: http://talkingmoviezzz.blogspot.com/2008/12/math-behind-delgo.htmlI wouldn't have known about if if I hadn't been looking up the weekend box office numbers.

5. There was an ad for it during Dr. Who; I had the volume turned off |
|
for all commercials and watching it, before it was revealed to be a motion picture, concluded from the graphics that it was an ad for some lesser video game. ouch.

6. From what I read, this isn't exactly a new movie. |
|
According to imdb's forum, this movie started being made in 2001-2002. Hard to believe, as there are X-Box games that have smoother animation and better graphics. The voice of the empress, Anne Bancroft, died 3 years ago.
This kind of thing will surely sink a studio and whoever is involved. Unless, of course, you're Uwe Boll. Or Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer.

i think i stumbled across ONE preview while flipping channels, and like another poster said, the animation looks *really* outdated compared to current standards
